Secretary Hammond honors domestic businesses that have been on file with the Office 100+ years.
(HARTSVILLE, SC) -- Today Secretary of State Mark Hammond officially recognized Sonoco as a South Carolina Centennial Business. This honor is reserved for domestic business entities that have been in good standing with the Secretary of State’s Office for 100 years or more.
Secretary Hammond honored Sonoco at its headquarters in Hartsville, South Carolina. “South Carolina has been blessed with forward-thinking individuals who saw a need and developed companies to satisfy that need, creating thousands of jobs in the process,” said Secretary Hammond. “Sonoco's achievements confirm that their actions and performance are at the highest level with their peers and with the best companies in the world. It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the contributions Sonoco has made and to recognize it as a South Carolina Centennial Business.”
Sonoco was incorporated on May 10, 1899, originally under the name of Southern Novelty Company. Since that time, Sonoco has become a $5 billion global provider of consumer packaging, industrial products, and packaging supply chain services. They produce packaging for many of the world’s most recognized brands, in areas ranging from appliances and electronics to food and beverages, to medical and pharmaceutical products.
