Discount Drug Card Sellers

Pursuant to S.C. Code of Laws §37-17-30, in addition to registration requirements with the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs, a discount medical plan organization must designate an agent for service of process and register the agent with the Secretary of State (PDF) prior to selling, marketing, promoting, advertising, or distributing a discount medical plan.

Non-Resident Wholesale Prescription Drug Distributors

Pursuant to S.C. Code of Laws §40-43-83, in addition to permitting requirements with the Board of Pharmacy, wholesale prescription drug distributors that are located outside of South Carolina and who ship, mail, distribute, or deliver prescription drugs or devices in this State shall designate a registered agent with the Secretary of State (PDF).

Residential Landlord and Tenant Act

Pursuant to S.C. Code of Laws §27-40-130, when a landlord is not a resident of South Carolina or a corporation authorized to do business in South Carolina, the landlord may designate an agent for service of process in South Carolina (PDF). This agent for service must be a resident of South Carolina or a corporation authorized to do business in South Carolina.
